Registered Respiratory Therapist – Weekend

About the role

The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care to patients with pulmonary disorders during weekend shifts at Lehigh Valley Health Network. The role involves administering therapies, monitoring ventilated patients, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Administer physician‑prescribed respiratory therapies, including oxygen, medications, pulmonary function tests (PFTs), arterial blood gases (ABGs), and mechanical ventilation.
• Monitor and assess patients on mechanical ventilation, perform routine rounds, troubleshoot equipment, and assist with weaning and airway care.
• Collect and analyze sputum, blood, and breath specimens; measure lung capacity and provide diagnostic results and treatment recommendations.
• Document all patient care activities in compliance with quality standards and departmental regulations.

Required profile

• Graduate of an AMA‑approved School of Respiratory Care.
• Less than 1 year of related experience (junior level).
• RRT certification (National Board for Respiratory Care) within 1 year of hire.
• ACLS certification within 60 days of hire and RCP certification for Pennsylvania upon hire.

Required skills

• Mechanical ventilation operation and troubleshooting.
• Pulmonary function testing (PFT) and arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) proficiency.
• Use and maintenance of respiratory diagnostic equipment.
