About the role
Texas Oncology is seeking a Registered Pharmacist to work on an as‑needed (PRN) basis at its Tyler, Texas location. The pharmacist will support oncology patients by preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications in accordance with professional standards and the organization’s compliance program.
Key responsibilities
- Compound and dispense medication orders, ensuring accuracy and adherence to OSHA and inter‑office guidelines.
- Maintain comprehensive patient medication profiles and verify physician authorizations.
- Check insurance approvals and process admixing of drugs as ordered.
- Prepare and update prescription records, patient charges, and inventory logs.
- Consult with nursing and medical staff regarding drug information, patient reactions, and medication errors.
- Support quality‑assurance initiatives and monitor compliance with legal and accreditation requirements.
Required profile
- Active pharmacist license (Registered Pharmacist) in Texas.
- Experience in medication compounding and dispensing, preferably in an oncology setting.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and pharmacy inventory management.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
