Registered Nurse – Surgical Orthopedics (0.9 FTE, A-Shift)

About the role

Phelps Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care in the Surgical Orthopedics unit on an A‑Shift, working 0.9 full‑time. This role involves delivering safe, high‑quality nursing care while supporting patients and families.

Key responsibilities

• Follow hospital policies for patient safety, infection prevention, and safe handling.
• Maintain and care for central lines and prevent surgical site infections.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide patient/family education.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments and document care activities.
• Communicate patient information to physicians and team members to improve outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current RN license in Missouri or Compact licensure; graduates must obtain licensure within 90 days.
• One year of nursing experience preferred.
• Ability to concentrate mentally and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 35 lb and constant walking.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).
• Valid RN license for the State of Missouri.
