Registered Nurse – Skilled Nursing Facility (Decatur, GA)

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide skilled nursing care at the Georgia Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in Decatur. This role supports individuals with profound to severe developmental disabilities who require a high level of nursing care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform nursing interventions to stabilize residents and prevent complications.
• Conduct daily rounds to assess physical and emotional status and implement necessary care.
• Document and address resident and family concerns, ensuring timely communication with the care team.
• Receive and give shift reports, keeping charge nurses informed of resident status.
• Prepare, administer, and document medications according to best practices.
• Consult with charge nurses or physicians as needed and clarify orders.
• Serve as a shift leader and resource for unit staff.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Current Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Georgia.
• Experience with G/J tubes, tracheostomies, and seizure disorders.
• Preferred background in long‑term care, geriatric nursing, or care for mentally and developmentally disabled patients.
