Registered Nurse - Pre-Surgery

About the role

AdventHealth in Tampa, Florida is hiring a full-time day-shift Registered Nurse for its Pre-Surgery unit. The nurse provides comprehensive care to patients awaiting surgery, from assessment through discharge planning, and works closely with other healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on findings and diagnosis.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and monitor patient responses, adjusting care plans as needed.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatment plans, medications and self-care.
• Document care in the electronic medical record and collaborate with colleagues to coordinate care.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, accreditation standards and organizational policies, and take part in quality improvement.
• Supervise and mentor nursing staff, maintain a safe environment following infection control policies, and respond promptly to emergencies.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license; additional licensure or certification may depend on the unit or state.
• Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Previous experience in a specialty area, previous EKG interpretation class, and prior Cerner or EPIC EMR experience are preferred.

Required skills

• Clinical skills, multi-tasking and a professional bedside manner.
• Knowledge of nursing care methods, procedures and patient care areas including health promotion.
• Basic computer skills, including navigating Microsoft Windows-based programs.
• Preferred certifications: Basic EKG, BLS/CPR, FCCS, AWHONN, CCNS, CEN, NRP-A, TNCC, PALS instructor, S.T.A.B.L.E.
