Certified Hyperbaric Technician

About the role

AdventHealth in Tampa, Florida is hiring a full-time Certified Hyperbaric Technician on the day shift. The role delivers oxygen therapy and hyperbaric chamber care to patients under physician orders, and requires a certified hyperbaric technologist.

Key responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medication via inhalation and oxygen therapy according to physician orders and departmental protocols.
• Monitor, record and communicate patient conditions and treatments accurately and on time.
• Educate patients and family members about illnesses and clinical interventions.
• Follow department SOPs and ensure patient documentation is accurate and complete.
• Clean and stock respiratory equipment regularly.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent; vocational/technical school preferred.
• Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT).
• One of the following: EMT, licensed paramedic, certified respiratory therapist, physical therapist, registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, certified medical assistant, certified nurse assistant, plus Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Completion of a 40-hour UHMS or NBDHMT-approved introductory course in hyperbaric medicine.
• 1+ year of clinical hyperbaric experience preferred.

Required skills

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions independently.
• Knowledge of outpatient hospital services and ability to work closely with physicians.
• Preferred: knowledge of hyperbaric chamber maintenance and minor repair, NFPA 99, gas handling, Hyperbaric Safety Codes, PVHOI and 2 CGA guidelines.

Pay range: $21.77 - $40.48. Florida Level 2 background screening applies to certain positions.
