Registered Nurse - PCU Medical Nights

About the role

AdventHealth in Tarpon Springs, Florida, is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for its PCU medical unit on night and weekend shifts. The nurse provides direct patient care, develops care plans, mentors nursing staff and takes part in quality improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on findings and diagnosis
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and monitor patient responses to interventions
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatment plans, medications and self-care
• Document care in the electronic medical record and collaborate with other healthcare professionals
• Ensure compliance with regulations, accreditation standards and organizational policies
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and supervise and mentor nursing staff
• Maintain a safe, clean environment following infection control policies and respond promptly to life-threatening situations

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree preferred
• 1+ years of experience in a critical care area preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing

Required skills

• Critical care nursing and clinical skills, including EKG interpretation (requirements depend on patient population)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows-based programs and accurate EMR documentation
• Preferred: previous experience with Cerner, EPIC and an EKG Interpretation class
