About the role
The Orthopedic Trauma unit at Spartanburg Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide high‑acuity care for patients with complex musculoskeletal injuries. You will work night shifts, including weekends as needed, in a 28‑bed unit equipped with central telemetry monitoring.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with fractures, gunshot wounds, amputations, and other traumatic injuries.
- Manage a variety of medical devices such as chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, skeletal/buck’s traction, external fixators, and tracheostomies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, charge nurses, and ADT nurses, to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Participate in hourly rounding, bedside assessments, and interdisciplinary communication to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Provide patient and family education regarding injury management and post‑discharge care.
Required profile
- Current RN licensure in South Carolina.
- Minimum of one year of recent RN experience within the past five years (preferred).
- Commitment to delivering safe, high‑quality patient care in a fast‑paced trauma environment.
Required skills
- BLS certification.
- ACLS certification.
- PALS/ENPC certification.
- Experience with chest tube and NG tube management.
- Proficiency in skeletal traction, buck’s traction, and external fixation techniques.
- Knowledge of trauma nursing principles and medical‑surgical care.
