Registered Nurse OR Internship – Winter 2027

About the role
The Operating Room (OR) RN Internship is a full‑time, paid 26‑week program beginning in January 2027. It is designed to train graduate nurses in peri‑operative care through classroom instruction and preceptored clinical experiences across multiple surgical specialties and LVHN campuses.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the operating physician with tasks such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and patient positioning.
- Perform circulating functions, including monitoring patient condition, documenting care, and managing overall nursing responsibilities before, during, and after surgery.
- Execute scrub duties by selecting, handling, and inspecting instruments and supplies, ensuring sterility and proper use of surgical equipment.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to resolve patient needs and maintain a safe surgical environment.
Required profile
- Specialized Diploma in Nursing with less than one year of experience.
- Current RN license in Pennsylvania.
- Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association, Pennsylvania).
- Ability to perform assessments and nursing functions acquired in basic nursing preparation.

- AORN Perioperative 101 Core Curriculum
- CNOR – Certified Nurse Operating Room (preferred)
- CCICBPN – Certified Clinical Inpatient/Bedside Nurse (preferred)
