Registered Nurse – Operating Room (Weekend)

About the role

Lehigh Valley Health Network seeks a Registered Nurse to provide peri‑operative care for patients undergoing surgery on weekends. The RN will manage patient assessment, maintain a safe environment, and support the surgical team throughout each procedure.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the operating physician with tasks such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and patient positioning.
• Perform circulating duties, monitoring and communicating patient condition before, during, and after surgery.
• Execute scrub functions, selecting and handling instruments and supplies.
• Inspect sterile items for integrity and verify chemical indicator changes.
• Control the operative environment, including temperature, warming devices, and traffic flow.

Required profile

• Current RN license in Pennsylvania.
• Less than 1 year of operating room experience or completion of a peri‑operative internship.
• Ability to assess patients, plan care, and supervise others.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) – preferred.
• CCICBPN certification – preferred.
