Registered Nurse, Observation Unit (Night Weekend)

About the role

AdventHealth Fish Memorial in Orange City, Florida, is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for its Observation Unit on a night-weekend schedule. The nurse provides comprehensive assessment, care planning, medication administration and patient education, working closely with medical staff and ancillary departments.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate patients' physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual and lifestyle factors
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, reviewing them regularly
• Administer medications and treatments safely and monitor for adverse reactions
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, medications and self-care
• Document patient information, care activities, interventions and outcomes accurately and on time
• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety and regulatory requirements
• Provide emotional support and therapeutic communication, and supervise and delegate care to the healthcare team
• Respond promptly to code situations and take part in performance improvement activities

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
• Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree preferred
• 1+ year of acute care hospital experience preferred
• Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures, ability to work as a team player, and strong communication and problem-solving skills
• High-level abstract reasoning to assess patients and revise care plans
• EKG (based on patient; see EKG and Advanced Life Support requirements)

Required skills

• BLS (CPR) certification (required)
• Preferred certifications: CCNS, NEONATAL MED, NRP, PEARS, RDMS-OBGYN, TNCC, ABLS, CCRN-E, CLC, ONS, SCR, GERO-BC, etc.
