Registered Nurse - Observation Unit

About the role

AdventHealth Heart of Florida is hiring a Registered Nurse for its Observation Unit in Davenport, Florida. This is a full-time night shift position. The nurse conducts patient assessments, develops care plans, administers treatments, educates patients and families, documents care in the EMR and takes part in quality improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on findings and diagnosis
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and monitor patient responses to interventions
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatment plans, medications and self-care
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and document care in the electronic medical record
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and supervise and mentor nursing staff
• Maintain a safe, clean environment following infection control policies and respond to emergencies

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN); additional licensure or certification may apply depending on the unit or state
• Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing
• Previous experience in a specialty area preferred

Required skills

• Critical care knowledge and clinical skills, including EKG interpretation (requirements depend on patient population)
• Proficiency in clinical skills, multi-tasking and accurate EMR documentation
• Preferred: previous Cerner, EPIC and Basic EKG certification; preferred certifications include BLS, FCCS, NRP-A, CCNS, CEN, TNCC and others

Pay range: $31.85 - $50.90. Florida Level 2 background screening applies to certain positions.
