Assistant Nurse Manager - Observation Unit

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring an Assistant Nurse Manager for its Observation Unit in Davenport, Florida. The role leads the unit's nursing staff in delivering patient care, manages performance improvement and quality initiatives, and mentors staff. The schedule is full-time day shift.

Key responsibilities

• Perform venous access procedures within the scope of RN licensure, administer and monitor infusion therapy, and develop individualized care plans for patients needing these services.
• Monitor nursing staff performance, give feedback, run appraisals and implement improvement plans.
• Mentor and precept new staff, identify training needs and organize educational programs.
• Resolve staff conflicts through mediation and foster team cohesion.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives by analyzing data and improving patient care and operational efficiency.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families and the healthcare team, and ensure compliance with regulatory, accrediting and hospital policies.
• Manage the business of healthcare delivery on the unit, including assessing and managing financial practices and productivity.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN); Associate's degree in Nursing required, Bachelor's preferred.
• 1+ years of nursing experience in an acute care setting (preferred).
• 1+ years as a charge nurse or relevant leadership experience (preferred).
• Ability to lead staff, lead performance improvement initiatives, think critically about unit operations and manage the business of healthcare delivery.
• Excellent clinical practice knowledge, written and verbal communication skills, and basic computer skills including an electronic health record.

Required skills

• RN license and BLS (CPR) certification (required)
• Preferred certifications include CCNS, CMSRN, CRNI, NRP-A, MEDSURG-BC, CNOR, CPAN, PCCN, PEARS, SE, VA-BC, S.T.A.B.L.E., GERO-BC, AVADE and NonViolent Crisis Intervention
