Registered Nurse - Observation Nights

About the role

AdventHealth Fish Memorial in Orange City, Florida, is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for observation nights. The nurse provides bedside assessment, care planning, medication administration and patient education, working closely with the medical team.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual and lifestyle factors.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, reviewing them regularly.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, medications and self-care.
• Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the medical record.
• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety and regulatory requirements.
• Provide emotional support and therapeutic communication, supervise delegation to the care team, and respond promptly to code situations.

Required profile

• Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license (required).
• Basic Life Support / CPR certification (required).
• Fluent English (reading, speaking and writing).
• 1+ years of experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
• Additional licensure or certification may apply depending on the unit or state.

Required skills

• Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
• Ability to work as a team player and strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• High-level abstract reasoning to assess patients and revise care plans.
• Basic computer skills, navigating Microsoft Windows-based programs.
• EKG interpretation (based on patient; see the EKG and Advanced Life Support requirements document).

Pay range: $31.85 - $52.76. The position is night-weekend shift, full time, and is subject to Florida Level 2 background screening.
