Registered Nurse - Monitor Bed Unit (Night Shift)

About the role

Ashe Memorial Hospital in West Jefferson, NC, is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for its Monitor Bed Unit (MBU) within Acute Care Services. The nurse provides direct, patient-centered care through continuous monitoring, timely intervention and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The position is on the night shift (2nd shift, with days varying), requires no travel and has no supervisory duties.

Key responsibilities

• Continuously monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to clinical changes
• Perform comprehensive assessments for patients across the lifespan
• Administer medications safely using electronic medical record systems
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to abnormalities
• Assist physicians with examinations, procedures and specialized treatments
• Provide patient and family education, support and advocacy
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in line with regulatory standards
• Keep the patient care environment safe, clean and compliant
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members

Required profile

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Recent critical care and/or medical-surgical experience
• Certification in Basic Life Support (CPR); ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Compliance with health and safety policies, including vaccination requirements (approved exemptions considered)
• Successful criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening after offer
