FT Certified/Registered Respiratory Therapist

About the role

Ashe Memorial Hospital in Jefferson, NC is hiring a full-time PRN Staff Respiratory Therapist/Technician in its Cardiopulmonary department. The role delivers respiratory and cardiopulmonary care to neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients, performing respiratory therapy procedures, diagnostic testing and patient care. It is on-site only, with no travel or supervisory duties.

Key responsibilities

• Perform oxygen, aerosol, humidity, bronchodilator and chest physiotherapy treatments
• Manage ventilators, provide airway care, intubation and extubation, and ventilator support during CPR
• Collect, analyze, document and interpret arterial blood gases
• Run pulmonary diagnostics such as spirometry, peak flow testing, overnight oximetry, EKGs and Holter monitor setup
• Assist with bronchoscopy, C-sections and infant deliveries
• Maintain, test and validate respiratory and blood gas equipment
• Complete electronic documentation, patient education and departmental reporting
• Ensure infection prevention and patient safety compliance, and give complete patient handoffs
• Support staff orientation and training, quality improvement and departmental policies

Required profile

• Graduate of an AMA-approved Respiratory Care program with an associate, bachelor's or certificate in Respiratory Care
• Current North Carolina Respiratory Care license (NCRCB)
• Current NBRC credentials
• Minimum of one year of respiratory care experience preferred
• Willingness to receive all required vaccinations and to pass a criminal background check and drug screen

Required skills

• BLS/CPR certification
• ACLS certification within six months of hire
• PALS certification within six months of hire
• NRP certification within six months of hire
