Registered Nurse – MedSurg – Night Shift – Full Time

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the MedSurg unit on Jeff Highway for night shift coverage. The RN will lead patient care using the nursing process, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and uphold the highest standards of practice.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to deliver safe, high‑quality patient care.
• Assess patient learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and other care team members.
• Delegate, direct, and support licensed and ancillary staff while managing resources effectively.
• Apply data and evidence‑based knowledge to drive improvements and achieve optimal outcomes.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school; Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• No prior work experience required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers, software applications, and web‑based tools.
• Effective verbal and written communication, with strong interpersonal abilities.
• Good organizational and time‑management skills; ability to work independently.
• Sound clinical judgment and ability to adapt communication style to diverse patient populations.
