Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Telemetry (Night Weekend)

About the role

AdventHealth Fish Memorial in Orange City, Florida is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for its Medical Surgical Telemetry unit on a night-weekend schedule. The nurse provides bedside care, monitors patients and coordinates with the wider medical team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients' physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual and lifestyle needs
• Develop and update individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, medications and self-care
• Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate patient care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the medical record
• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety and regulatory requirements
• Provide emotional support and therapeutic communication to patients and families
• Supervise and delegate care provided by other team members
• Respond promptly to code situations and provide stabilizing interventions
• Take part in continuous professional development and performance improvement activities

Required profile

• Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree preferred
• 1+ years of experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred)
• Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
• Basic Life Support / CPR certification (required)
• Fluent English (reading, speaking and writing)
• Ability to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patients and revise care plans

• Effective verbal and oral communication and problem-solving
• EKG interpretation (based on patient; see EKG and ALS requirements)
• Basic computer skills, navigating Microsoft Windows-based programs
