About the role

Join Ochsner’s Med Surg team on the OMC Jeff Hwy unit, providing day‑shift patient care in a collaborative, inclusive environment. This position leads the nursing process, supports interdisciplinary teamwork, and contributes to high‑quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to deliver safe, patient‑centered care.
• Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies for patients, families, and staff.
• Delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members while managing resources.
• Use data and evidence‑based practice to drive improvements and achieve optimal outcomes.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• No prior work experience required.
• Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and strong interpersonal communication.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
