Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery Internship

About the role

The Labor and Delivery Internship at Morton Plant Hospital offers newly graduated or early‑career Registered Nurses a structured four‑month program to develop expertise in perinatal care. Interns will rotate through day and night shifts, gaining hands‑on experience under preceptorship while completing classroom education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to laboring, delivering, and postpartum patients in the LDR unit.
• Participate in 30+ hours of classroom instruction covering low‑risk and high‑risk pregnancies.
• Complete precepted clinical rotations, including fetal monitoring, lactation support, and neonatal resuscitation.
• Earn 49 continuing education credits and complete the AWHONN Perinatal Orientation and Education Program.
• Maintain accurate documentation and delegate appropriate tasks to the care team.

Required profile

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma (Bachelor’s preferred).
• Active, unrestricted RN license.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Preferably 1+ year of RN experience in an acute‑care setting.
