Registered Nurse Labor & Delivery Internship

About the role

This 4‑month Labor and Delivery Internship at Morton Plant Hospital provides newly licensed or early‑career Registered Nurses with hands‑on experience in both low‑risk and high‑risk obstetric care. The program begins on November 9, 2026, with a required one‑week orientation and a two‑year commitment to the unit after completion.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Labor, Delivery, and Recovery (LDR) unit using the nursing process.
• Delegate appropriate tasks to support staff while maintaining professional accountability.
• Participate in classroom instruction and precepted clinical rotations.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately.
• Support patients and families with education on labor, delivery, lactation, and postpartum care.

Required profile

• Active and unrestricted RN license.
• Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma (Bachelor’s preferred).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Preferably 1+ year of RN experience in an acute‑care setting.
• Not enrolled in any other academic program during the internship.
