Registration & Scheduler – Patient Services

About the role

The Registration & Scheduler serves as the first point of contact for patients, handling clerical and administrative duties within the Cancer Care‑Registration department. The role supports patient flow, scheduling, registration, and chart maintenance while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and hospital policies.

Key responsibilities

• Greet and direct patients, answer phone calls, retrieve voicemails, and provide department orientation.
• Assist with imaging support tasks such as receiving calls, generating reports, retrieving images from the PACS system, and maintaining efficient patient workflow.
• Schedule initial and follow‑up appointments, track no‑shows, and communicate schedule updates to staff.
• Perform registration duties: create electronic records, collect signatures, coordinate medical authorizations, collect co‑pays, and process daily deposits.
• Maintain patient charts, communicate with physicians’ offices, insurance carriers, and billing departments, and ensure proper documentation is forwarded to medical records.
• Monitor email, manage office supply inventory, and perform other assigned duties.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting with knowledge of medical terminology; 2 years preferred.
• Fingerprint Clearance Card required for pediatric behavioral health sites (or eligibility within 7 days of hire).
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).
• Experience entering data into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology.
