Registered Nurse – ICU (0.6 PT)

About the role

Phelps Health Hospital is seeking a part‑time Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care in the Intensive Care Unit. This position supports safe, high‑quality care for critically ill patients while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Follow hospital policies for patient safety, infection prevention, safe handling, and critical lab notification.
• Maintain and care for central lines, prevent surgical site infections, and administer medications.
• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, document care activities, and communicate findings to physicians and team members.
• Educate patients and families, delegate tasks appropriately, and promote teamwork and accountability.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current RN license in Missouri (or Compact licensure) – graduate nurses must be licensed within 90 days.
• One year of nursing experience preferred.
• Ability to concentrate mentally and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 35 lb and constant walking.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Competence in central line care and infection control practices.
