Registered Nurse – Emergency Medicine (Jefferson Highway)

About the role

Join Ochsner’s Emergency Medicine team on Jefferson Highway, providing compassionate, high‑quality care to a diverse patient population. This full‑time RN position utilizes the nursing process within the Nurse Practice Act and ANA standards.

Key responsibilities

• Apply the nursing process to deliver safe, effective patient care.
• Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies for patients and families.
• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources, acting as a leader on the interdisciplinary team.
• Use data and evidence to drive improvements and achieve optimal outcomes.
• Adapt interactions to respect patient privacy, cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity.
• Perform additional related duties as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred: certification in a clinical specialty area.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication for clear professional presentation.
