Registered Nurse - Emergency Department, Lake Placid

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a full-time day-shift Registered Nurse for its Emergency Department in Lake Placid, Florida. The nurse conducts patient assessments, develops care plans, administers treatments and provides education, working closely with other healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on findings and diagnosis
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and monitor patient responses, adjusting care as needed
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatment plans, medications and self-care
• Document care in the electronic medical record and ensure compliance with regulations and accreditation standards
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and supervise and mentor nursing staff
• Maintain a safe environment through infection control and respond promptly to life-threatening situations

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license and Basic Life Support (CPR) certification
• Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree preferred
• Experience in emergency department and/or critical care
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing
• Ability to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patients and revise care plans

Required skills

• Critical care skills and knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
• Proficiency in clinical skills, multi-tasking and a professional bedside manner
• Knowledge of health promotion and maintenance
• Preferred: previous Cerner EMR, EKG interpretation class and EPIC experience
