PRN RN - Surgery Critical Recovery

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a PRN Registered Nurse for its Surgery Critical Recovery position in Lake Placid, Florida. The nurse evaluates patient care quality and outcomes, reviews patient charts frequently, initiates and signs off physician orders, performs comprehensive assessments and educates patients and families about new medications.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate the quality of patient care and outcomes based on administered treatments
• Review the chart for new or pending orders and tasks at least every two hours
• Initiate and sign off physician orders promptly
• Perform comprehensive assessments, including head-to-toe evaluations and reassessments
• Recognize and interpret abnormal diagnostic data such as lab results, drug levels and radiologic data
• Educate patients and families about new medications, including effects and side effects
• Formulate and update goal-directed plans of care
• Administer treatments and medications safely and accurately, maintain aseptic technique and follow infection control practices

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN)
• Associate degree in nursing (Bachelor of Nursing preferred)
• English fluency, speaking, reading and writing
• Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS and PALS certification
• Background screening under Florida law, which may include fingerprinting

Required skills

• Basic RN nursing skills, computer literacy, medical terminology, organizational skills and telephone etiquette
• Basic telemetry (PACU) required; circulating, scrub, AORN and ASPAN standards, and PACU critical care skills preferred
• Operating room experience preferred, including endoscopy
