Part-Time Registered Nurse, Emergency Department

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a part-time day-shift Registered Nurse for its Emergency Department in Lake Placid, Florida. The nurse conducts patient assessments, develops care plans, administers treatments and provides education to patients and families.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on findings and diagnosis
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and monitor patient responses to interventions
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatment plans, medications and self-care
• Document care in the electronic medical record and collaborate with other healthcare professionals
• Ensure compliance with regulations, accreditation standards and organizational policies
• Take part in quality improvement initiatives and supervise and mentor nursing staff
• Maintain a safe, clean environment following infection control policies and respond promptly to life-threatening situations

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license and Basic Life Support (CPR) certification
• Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree preferred
• Experience in emergency department and/or critical care
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing
• Ability to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patients and revise care plans

Required skills

• Critical care skills and knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
• Proficiency in clinical skills, multi-tasking and a professional bedside manner
• Organization, prioritization and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of EKG interpretation (requirements depend on patient population)
• Preferred: previous experience with Cerner, EPIC and an EKG Interpretation class

Pay range: $31.85 - $50.90. Florida Level 2 background screening applies. Additional licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the unit or state.
