Registered Nurse 3 – Admissions Unit (Evening Shift)

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Registered Nurse 3 to work in the Admissions Unit of Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta, located in Decatur. This full‑time evening position (3 pm‑11:30 pm) provides direct nursing care to adult patients in a behavioral health setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assess client health problems, complete vital signs, and document findings.
• Review current medications and treatments, and notify physicians/psychiatrists for orders.
• Administer oral, sublingual, and IM medications as prescribed.
• Provide nursing care, health‑maintenance education, and disease‑prevention counseling.
• Refer patients to social services when needed.
• Maintain accurate client records, monitor diet, symptoms, and changes in condition.
• Prepare patients for examinations and treatments, and ensure supplies and equipment are stocked.
• Deliver first aid and emergency care, including CPR and AED use.

Required profile

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia.
• Experience in behavioral health or acute care nursing.
• Ability to assess, plan, and provide basic nursing skills.
• Knowledge of nursing policies, procedures, pharmacology, and the Nurse Practice Act.
• Certification in CPR and ability to operate an AED.
