Registered Nurse 2 – UPAC (Full‑Time)

About the role

The Registered Nurse 2 – Specialty provides patient‑family centered care in a culturally competent environment at the University of Miami. This full‑time position oversees nursing and allied health staff while delivering evidence‑based clinical services.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient responses, conditions, and physician orders.
• Review and evaluate diagnostic tests to determine patient status.
• Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and evaluate care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and nurture a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests within scope of practice, maintaining accurate records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members while complying with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Assist with discharge planning and prioritize assignments to ensure superior patient care.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff and operate medical equipment safely.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
