About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Clinical Operations – Diabetes is seeking a full‑time Medical Assistant 1 to support physicians and nursing staff in delivering high‑quality patient care in a culturally competent environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms with necessary supplies and instruments for provider examinations.
• Perform vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and routine laboratory tests, documenting results in the patient’s record.
• Assist patients with preparation for examinations, provide post‑visit instructions, and escort them to various hospital locations.
• Administer medication as directed by the physician and support patient mobility activities.
• Maintain cleanliness and sterility of medical instruments, adhering to aseptic techniques.
• Schedule patients for tests, complete laboratory forms, and manage supply inventory.
• Accurately record and maintain patient documentation while protecting privacy.
