About the role

The Registered Nurse 2 – Specialty provides patient‑family centered care in a culturally competent, evidence‑based environment at the University of Miami. This full‑time position oversees nursing and allied health staff while delivering high‑quality care.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response, condition, and physician orders.
• Review and report diagnostic test results to evaluate patient status.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications safely and maintain accurate medication records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members while complying with HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning and utilize resources to ensure smooth transitions.
• Serve as a preceptor, mentoring new staff and supporting their integration.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred (ASN graduates have 2 years to complete BSN).
• Active Registered Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
