Registered Nurse 2 – Radiation Oncology (Full Time)

About the role

The Registered Nurse (U) provides patient‑family centered care in the Radiation Oncology department of the University of Miami. The role emphasizes culturally competent, evidence‑based practice while overseeing nursing and allied health staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and modify treatment plans based on patient response and physician orders.
• Review, evaluate, and report diagnostic test results to determine patient condition.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and evaluate patient care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors, and provide psychological support.
• Perform patient tests and safely administer medications, maintaining accurate records in compliance with regulations.
• Communicate care plans promptly to patients, families, and team members while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Utilize resources for discharge planning and coordinate transitions of care.
• Prioritize assignments, adapt to changing demands, and operate medical equipment safely.
• Serve as a preceptor, mentor new staff, and provide constructive feedback.
• Adhere to university and unit policies, safeguarding assets.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred (ASN holders have 2 years to complete BSN).
• Valid Florida Registered Nurse license.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
• Minimum two years of nursing experience.
