Registered Nurse 2 – Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse 2 to work in the Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This full‑time position provides direct patient care, monitors recovery after surgery, and collaborates closely with physicians and the multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response, physician orders, and clinical judgment.
• Review and interpret diagnostic tests to evaluate patient status.
• Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications safely and maintain accurate medication records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members while complying with HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning and operate medical equipment safely.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, fostering a supportive learning environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Active Florida Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
