Registered Diagnostic Medical & Vascular Sonographer (Breast)

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a full-time, day-shift (7:30 am to 4 pm) registered diagnostic medical and vascular sonographer for its Lake Nona campus in Orlando, Florida. The sonographer acquires and analyzes ultrasound images and data, provides high-quality studies for radiologist interpretation, and works closely with radiologists and other providers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound exams according to provider orders and protocols, positioning patients and using immobilization devices when needed
• Manipulate transducers and technical factors to obtain optimal images, waveforms, heart rates and other diagnostic data
• Review patient history and clinical information, obtain informed consent, and follow infection control standards with approved PPE and disinfectants
• Document findings accurately in the EMR and PACS systems and complete the ultrasound technologist worksheet
• Explain procedures to patients, keeping them comfortable, cooperative and private
• Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and notify staff when inventory is low
• Collaborate with radiologists and other providers to ensure continuity of care

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent (associate degree preferred)
• Ability to read, write and speak conversational English; additional languages preferred
• Basic life support (CPR) certification required
• Ability to perform ultrasound procedures independently and to recognize differences between healthy and pathological tissue
• Team-oriented, flexible and reliable; excellent organization and communication skills
• Preferred: 1+ year of position-related experience and experience with breast, prostate or pediatric, neuro and vascular sonography

Required skills

• Detailed knowledge of ultrasound physics, cross-sectional and vascular anatomy and Doppler techniques
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office and PACS software
• Continuing education and license maintenance
