Regional Medical Scientific Director – Immunology GI (Southern Midwest)

About the role

The Regional Medical Scientific Director (Medical Science Liaison) will serve as a therapeutic and disease expert in Inflammatory Bowel Disease Immunology, facilitating scientific exchange between MSD and key scientific leaders across the Southern‑Midwest.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain professional relationships with national and regional scientific leaders, providing balanced, factual scientific information about MSD’s products and non‑product areas.
• Engage in peer‑to‑peer scientific discussions, respond to scientific inquiries, and direct out‑of‑scope requests to appropriate resources.
• Support research initiatives by identifying potential investigators, conducting site initiation visits, and addressing barriers to patient enrollment.
• Represent MSD at scientific congresses and medical meetings, facilitating data exchange and gathering insights.

Required profile

• PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD with at least three years of relevant Immunology (IBD) experience beyond the terminal degree.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of doctoral‑level discussions with external stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and related ethical guidelines.
• Ability to work independently, travel up to 50% within the Southern‑Midwest, and reside in the territory.
