Recreational Sports Coordinator – Esports & Bowling

About the role

The Recreational Sports Coordinator will oversee Texas A&M University‑Kingsville’s varsity Esports team, bowling alley, and associated camps. Reporting to the Director of Recreational Sports, this role manages the Javelina Gaming Lounge and ensures high‑quality recreational programming for students and the community.

Key responsibilities

• Direct oversight of the varsity Esports program, including scheduling, equipment management, and competition logistics.
• Manage daily operations of the Javelina Gaming Lounge and campus bowling alley, handling reservations, private events, and facility organization.
• Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs in partnership with Campus Operations and external vendors.
• Develop, supervise, and evaluate Esports leagues, open‑recreation gaming, tournaments, camps, and special events.
• Lead registration, staffing, and logistical support for internal and external camps.
• Build and maintain external partnerships to expand programming into the surrounding community.
• Supervise student and part‑time employees, ensuring effective communication and exemplary service delivery.

Required profile

• Experience supervising student workers or part‑time staff in a recreational or athletic setting.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple facilities and programs simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to engage students, faculty, and community partners.
• Demonstrated commitment to student success and community engagement.
