Real Estate Development Director

About the role

Couche-Tard/Circle K is hiring a Real Estate Development Director for its North America Real Estate Development team, based in Tempe, AZ in an office setting. The team finds new sites, opens new stores, relocates and rebuilds existing ones, and optimizes the network across North America. The Director leads a team of Development Managers and coordinates with regional and business unit operations, marketing, fuels, construction and other internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a team of Development Managers and hold them accountable for deadlines
• Drive new site identification, investigation, analysis, production and store openings
• Be accountable for the performance of third-party project managers, civil engineers, architects, attorneys, expeditors and other development personnel through the entitlement and permitting process
• Create, manage and adhere to site-specific budgets, procedures, approvals and payment processes
• Keep the team aligned with Operations and other key stakeholders

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree required
• 5+ years of relevant experience in Real Estate, Retail Site Selection, Construction, Project Entitlement, Strategy, Finance, Environmental Compliance, Data Analytics, Economic Evaluation, M&A, Engineering, Design and Procurement
• Extensive hands-on Operations experience strongly preferred, including P&L management
• Prior experience leading a team
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to learn additional software quickly
• Financial education or background desired; knowledge of budget planning preferred
• Strong organizational, analytical and strategic skills with attention to detail
