R&D Business Insight and Digital Solution Lead

About the role

Genentech is looking for an R&D Business Insight and Digital Solution Lead in South San Francisco. As a technology consultant and strategic thought leader, you will serve as the go-to expert for R&D, leading cross-functional teams on complex, high-impact products and bridging life science strategy with enterprise architecture and advanced analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional teams in a matrix organization to deliver complex products, and turn business needs into clear product strategy and priorities
• Drive end-to-end digital execution of multi-squad software and data programs from concept to operationalization
• Anticipate emerging scientific needs and evaluate capabilities such as enterprise AI, agentic workflows, generative ML and multimodal data platforms
• Decide on high-impact topics, hold stakeholders accountable, remove bottlenecks and foster psychological safety
• Manage expectations with senior stakeholders and executives, build alignment across business, data and technology teams, and give high-visibility presentations
• Influence domain-level strategy, shape product roadmaps and workforce strategies, and coach and mentor colleagues

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, IT or Business; Master's preferred
• 8+ years of direct related experience, including 3+ years in life sciences/pharma or the supported business function
• Proven track record of leading extremely complex projects with enterprise-wide implications
• Preferred: management consultancy experience

Required skills

• Deep expertise in multiple consultancy capabilities and business process domain knowledge across several domains
• Ability to scale Agile frameworks across squads or product teams
• Strong technical fluency to lead and challenge architects, engineers and data scientists
• Understanding of modern data platforms, APIs, analytics and AI technologies
• Experience integrating model and agentic AI capabilities into business workflows is a strong plus

What we offer

• Expected salary range of $143,400 - $266,200 depending on experience, qualifications and location
• A discretionary annual bonus may be available
