Radiology Tech Assistant / Student (PRN)

About the role

This position supports individualized patient care by assisting a registered radiologic technologist with limited radiographic procedures, following safety protocols and ensuring accurate documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare patients for visits, complete documentation, answer questions, and ensure understanding of procedures.
• Clean and ready examination rooms for subsequent appointments.
• Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy.
• Maintain radiographic equipment and work area to departmental standards.
• Perform imaging in accordance with LSBME standards and the ALARA principle.
• Review patient images before transmission to ensure diagnostic quality.
• Conduct quality control procedures and address any regulatory issues.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current enrollment in good standing in an accredited Medical Imaging Program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• No prior work experience required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication for patient interaction.
• Knowledge of diagnostic radiology procedures and equipment operation/maintenance.
• Ability to safely operate radiology equipment and follow safety standards.
