Quality Tech - Dairy Food Testing

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor, is hiring a Quality Tech in Troy. The role covers collecting and testing samples of raw ingredients, packaging materials and finished dairy products, interpreting results, keeping QC records and supporting internal and external audits.

Key responsibilities

• Collect samples and perform physical analytical sampling and testing of raw ingredients, packaging materials and finished dairy products, and perform microbiological/bacteriological testing, applying and interpreting results
• Communicate out-of-specification results and follow the notification protocol
• Routinely collect product samples from production lines and maintain QC records and filing
• Complete analytical testing documents accurately, enter data into the system and prepare stock solutions
• Calibrate and maintain lab equipment, perform environmental control swabbing after clean-up and CIP/SIP, and report deviations
• Support consumer complaint investigations, internal and external audits, mock and product recall programs, and prepare production records to isolate out-of-spec product
• Distribute customer certificates of analysis and comply with Quality Assurance Procedures and dairy food regulations

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in Food or Dairy Science preferred
• Previous experience with food quality specifications, process control monitoring and positive release documentation preferred
• Ability to pass and maintain regulatory certification (CDFA, DFA Appendix N, Good Laboratory Practices)
• Demonstrated work history

Required skills

• Working knowledge of food manufacturing acronyms (SQF, QA/QC, CQP, QAP, HACCP, SOP, 5S, GMP)
• Strong math, computer and business skills (SAP, Microsoft Office)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
