Batching Operator

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor, is hiring a Batching Operator in Troy. The main function of the position is to build the ingredients for batching, while remaining part of the batching team and assisting with breaks and work in the batch room as needed. The shift is 12 hours, from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am.

Key responsibilities

• Follow established SOPs to move dairy products from blending to processing and to the filling system according to the production run schedule.
• Operate process equipment efficiently, including high-temperature heat exchangers, rigs, tanks, pumps, product lines, valves and fittings.
• Coordinate with other departments so product is processed and supplied on schedule, including end-of-run and changeovers.
• Maintain accurate charts and records, audit them at the end of each shift, and follow Chart Recording guidelines.
• Support internal and external compliance audits and process product reclaim within defined guidelines.
• Perform equipment CIP/SIP/COP and sanitation, clean-up, routine adjustments, environmental controls and good housekeeping.
• Follow GMP, food safety, allergen and occupational health and safety policies, wear PPE, and report out-of-specification product using the notification protocol.
• Drive a lift truck safely, cross-train with other departments and comply with dairy food regulations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• At least two years of work experience in food manufacturing; dairy food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Advanced training in dairy science is a plus.
• Consistent attendance is a must.

Required skills

• Strong math skills.
• Ability to operate and understand equipment controls, touch panels and mechanical operations.
• Ability to obtain lift truck certification and operate lift trucks safely.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• PC skills, MS Excel, ERP systems and SAP are a plus.
