Packaging Operator (Night Shift)

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor, is hiring a Packaging Operator in Troy for a night shift (6pm to 6am). The role covers safe and efficient operation of production packaging equipment, including automated case forming, packaging and palletizing, and related tasks such as pallet labeling, case coding and production records.

Key responsibilities

• Operate production packaging equipment safely and efficiently, including automated case forming, packaging and palletizing, and set up, operate and replenish fiber gluer and/or taping equipment.
• Follow standard operating procedures without deviation and perform routine equipment adjustments.
• Generate pallet identification labels according to the production schedule, verify case quantity, product, product ID and production dates, and set up and validate case coding equipment.
• Identify out-of-specification product conditions and follow the notification protocol.
• Complete production records and documents accurately and neatly, and perform equipment change-overs, clean-up and set-up.
• Perform product reclaim and rework, environmental controls, and support internal and external audits.
• Operate a lift truck safely, follow occupational health and safety procedures, GMPs and food safety requirements, and comply with dairy food regulations.
• Cross-train with other departments, maintain good housekeeping, and follow the Saputo Code of Ethics and workplace climate policy.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• At least two years of work experience in food manufacturing; dairy food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Successful completion of a drug screen and background check.
• Good attendance is a must.

Required skills

• Lift truck certification or ability to obtain it (Powered Industrial Truck).
• Understanding of food manufacturing acronyms such as SQF, QA/QC, HACCP, GMP, SOP and 5S.
• Ability to operate and understand equipment controls, touch panels and mechanical operations.
• Strong math and technical skills, and strong verbal and written communication.
