Quality Engineer (Supplier Quality)

About the role

ABB is hiring a Quality Engineer in Hackettstown, New Jersey, reporting to the Quality Manager. The role covers operational supplier quality, on-site and off-site, including supplier qualification and development, supplier assessments and KPI management. It is an onsite position.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate manufacturing and customer issues submitted through the Positive Action Resolution and Response System (PARRS) and drive accountability for resolving customer issues across all product lines made at the Hackettstown plant.
• Set direction and action plans for quality metrics such as First Pass Yield (FPY), CCRP cycle time and DPPM.
• Recommend equipment and methods for measuring product or process quality, while maintaining safety and housekeeping standards.
• Support quality planning and customer audits, audit the Quality System for ISO 9001 compliance, and review non-conforming products in the Material Review Board process.
• Participate in investigations of technical problems and establish corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Drive approval of supplier parts, materials and subcontractor services, including PPAP and product surveillance at supplier sites, and partner with suppliers on improvement activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with at least 3 years of experience in Quality, Operations, Supply Chain Management or Manufacturing.
• Work authorization to work for ABB in the US; up to 10 percent travel is required.
• Ability to coordinate several projects.

Required skills

• ISO 9001 experience or prior oversight of a Quality Management System preferred.
• Six Sigma certification is preferred.
• Quality certifications are a plus.
