Assembler - Medium and High Voltage Vacuum Switches

About the role

ABB is hiring an assembler in its MVR department in Hackettstown, reporting to the Production Supervisor. The role involves assembling, building and testing medium and high voltage electrical vacuum switches using standardized tools and test equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, build and test medium and high voltage electrical vacuum switches using standardized tools and test equipment.
• Interpret production drawings and work instructions, including wire schematics, outlines, BOMs and wire diagrams.
• Access drawings and files through internal systems.
• Report discrepancies and non-conformance issues to the responsible person.
• Complete all documentation and follow work instructions.
• Work in a team with product and manufacturing engineering and other internal and external customers, and assist in training others.
• Maintain 5S processes and safety practices, including the use of PPE.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of manufacturing experience.
• Able to lift 40+ lbs, stand or walk for 8 hours, and reach, lift and pull.
• Flexible with cross-training and overtime, willing to learn new processes.

Required skills

• Basic mechanical, electrical and hand-tool knowledge.
• Basic computer skills.
