Quality Engineer – Machining

About the role

Johnson Controls Federal Systems is seeking a Quality Engineer to provide day‑to‑day quality engineering support for machining teams at its York, PA plant. The role focuses on improving first‑pass yields, product flow, and on‑time delivery while meeting Navy Systems customer expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the Grantley Plant and lead continuous improvement teams to reduce cost of poor quality.
• Generate reporting metrics for scrap, rework, and first‑pass yield; manage non‑conforming material and facilitate Material Review Board.
• Conduct measurement systems analysis, process capability studies, and first‑article dimensional reviews.
• Develop inspection plans, review design and test results, and participate in ECN and product team meetings.
• Perform internal quality system audits, support supplier audits and APQP launches, and interface with key suppliers.
• Participate in warranty reduction teams and deliver quality system training.

Required profile

• 5+ years manufacturing experience in heavy industrial, automotive, aerospace or similar supporting machining, welding and fabrication.
• Knowledge of QMS standards such as ISO 9000, TS 16949 or AS 9100.
• Proficiency with MS Office and quality data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab).
• Strong problem‑solving, data analysis, GD&T, blueprint reading, and leadership skills.

What we offer

• Salary range $80,000 – $100,000, negotiable based on experience
