Quality Engineer (Aerospace & Defense)

About the role

The Quality Engineer supports and enhances the Quality Management System (QMS) in a fast‑paced aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. Working closely with operations, engineering, manufacturing, inspection, suppliers and customers, the role ensures product conformity, drives corrective actions, reduces risk and upholds AS9100 compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Support QMS compliance with AS9100D, customer requirements and internal procedures; prepare for internal, customer and certification audits.
• Provide floor‑level quality support for machining, flow forming, assembly and inspection; review routers, travelers and flow‑downs.
• Lead root‑cause investigations (5‑Why, Fishbone, Process Mapping) and manage CAPA implementation and verification.
• Collaborate with inspection teams on engineering drawings, GD&T, gage calibration and CMM programming.
• Act as point of contact for customer quality issues and support supplier quality activities, including source inspections and SCARs.
• Track, analyze and report key quality metrics (scrap, rework, FPY, COPQ) and develop dashboards for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, machining, forging or manufacturing quality.
• Experience with AS9100 quality systems and corrective‑action processes.
• U.S. citizenship required due to ITAR/EAR regulations.
