QA Automation Test Engineer

About the role

Aretum, a federal consulting organization serving defense, civilian and homeland security clients, is hiring a QA Automation Test Engineer to support an Agile team building, maintaining and enhancing applications for a federal government client. The role covers planning, developing, executing and maintaining manual and automated testing solutions, and employees may handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). The position is remote, with occasional travel expected to be less than 10%, and only U.S. citizens eligible.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, execute and maintain manual and automated test cases for web applications, APIs and integrated systems
• Build and maintain reusable test scripts, utilities and components, and scalable test automation frameworks
• Perform functional, regression, smoke, integration, end-to-end and user story validation testing
• Integrate automated testing into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and run load, performance and scalability tests
• Analyze test results, identify defects and recommend improvements to quality and release readiness
• Work with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers and Testers on quality expectations and the Definition of Done

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience (a bachelor's degree is required, or 4 additional years of relevant experience)
• 5+ years using automation tools to test systems and write test scripts
• 3+ years with automation testing tools, Playwright preferred
• Hands-on experience with database and API testing, and with Docker containers
• Experience creating reusable test automation solutions and CI/CD integration
• Public Trust eligibility required; U.S. work authorization only
