Purchase/Procurement Supervisor

About the role

The Georgia Forestry Commission is seeking a Purchase/Procurement Supervisor to lead its purchasing and supplier management processes. This position oversees the procurement cycle, from contract development to vendor relations, ensuring cost‑effective solutions and compliance with state regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and plan staff work in purchasing and procurement, setting performance expectations and providing feedback.
• Coordinate contract development, negotiation, administration, renewal, and monitor contract performance.
• Oversee competitive solicitation processes, including RFQs, ITBs, and RFPs, and award contracts for products and services.
• Serve as the central point of contact for vendors, handling inquiries and protests within established timeframes.
• Ensure compliance with the Georgia Procurement Manual, procurement rules, and regulations.

Required profile

• Associate degree in accounting or business (or technical diploma) with at least four years of procurement experience, including one year in a supervisory role.
• Or two years of experience at the lower‑level Procurement Agent position.
• Preferred: State of Georgia purchasing experience, familiarity with the state purchasing card program, and certifications such as GCPA or GCPCA.
