Public Health Clinical Nursing Instructor

About the role

Chamberlain College of Nursing seeks a part‑time Clinical Nursing Instructor to mentor BSN students in an inpatient clinical setting in Des Moines, Iowa. The instructor will bridge classroom learning with real‑world patient care, ensuring students are well‑prepared and confident.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and supervise clinical experiences for 3‑4 consecutive 12‑hour shifts per 8‑week session.
• Implement the college’s curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through hands‑on teaching.
• Develop and post written clinical assignments tailored to students’ knowledge and skill levels.
• Evaluate student performance, provide documented feedback, and offer remediation as needed.
• Maintain visibility on the clinical site, coordinate with site personnel, and ensure compliance with site policies.
• Contribute to program development, assessment, and college‑wide initiatives.

Required profile

• Master’s or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
• Unencumbered RN license in Iowa (Illinois license required for some courses).
• Active BLS certification (American Heart Association, Red Cross, or equivalent).
• At least two years of recent professional nursing experience.

Required skills

• Clinical nursing expertise in community/public health settings.
• Ability to assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Knowledge of clinical site policies and regulatory compliance.
