About the role

The Psychiatric Crisis Specialist II joins the Behavioral Health Intake team at Indian River Hospital, providing comprehensive assessment and crisis intervention for patients presenting in emergency settings.

Key responsibilities

• Complete mental status, psychosocial, risk and substance‑use assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Provide crisis intervention using evidence‑based therapeutic techniques and coordinate disposition to inpatient or community services.
• Document services accurately for charge capture and communicate findings to the medical team.
• Assist with insurance verification, pre‑certification and patient/family psycho‑education.
• Participate in supervision of trainees and orientation of new staff.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a health‑related field (MA, MS, or MEd).
• Current licensure as LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT with no substantiated ethics or abuse reports.
• Minimum two years of post‑master’s experience in behavioral health or emergency department settings.
